The Fiery Heart

Ever since reading Vampire Academy I have been a huge fan of Richelle Mead. You read one book and you find yourself reading them all and buying the new ones the day they come out. And of course the books are read in a jiffy and you regret that decision almost instantly because it's impossible not to want the next book right away. Oh boy The Fiery Heart is no exception that's for sure...

In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her. . . .

But the struggle isn't over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there's still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure—and re-education—looms larger than ever.

Pulses will race throughout this thrilling fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where no secret is safe.

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist who's duty is to keep humans oblivious to the supernatural world around them. She's been raised to distrust and merely tolerate Moroi and Dhapmir but now that's she's been living with some for so long and befriended them she begins to question her people's beliefs and how they run things.

Ever since hearing about this series I was excited but I never realized how much I would love it. And I really do. Sydney Sage is becoming one of my favorite characters. Well that isn't necessarily true because she's been one of my favorites for a while now. I guess I should say she's becoming even more of a favorite. She's intelligent, strong, selfless and so loyal. With each book in this series she grows. She's accepting herself and I loved that she could finally see that she could be healthy and happy and still do her job.

Adrian never fails to make my heart flutter. He's grown so much from the guy he was in Vampire Academy series and these previous books. I love every bit about this character from his sarcastic comments and escape plans to his loyal and loving self. It's interesting that we got to see inside of his head in this book. At first I wasn't too sure if I would want that because there's something great about wondering what it would be like in his head. Though I am glad that Richelle Mead decided to do this because it was so great to get inside of Adrian's head and really understand him and it made the story even better! Boy does it make you love this character even more.

There's quiet a bit of romance in this book among many different characters. All I'll say about that without spoiling anything is I am pleased with how all of the romances turned out. It was about time for some of these characters! The great thing about this series is there are so many secondary characters who you can't help to love such as Eddie, Trey and Jill and even Angeline who you never really know what to expect from.

This book had some characters from Vampire Academy pop up and I loved it getting to see these characters from another perspective. It was kind of bittersweet honestly because these are characters who I adored and got to see grow in Vampire Academy and getting to see them still growing into their lives was really satisfying.

Somehow I just knew that this would happen eventually. It was Sydney's greatest fear but even though in the back of my mind I knew this would happen it doesn't make it any less shocking. Getting to see things from both Adrian and Sydney's perspective made it even more emotional and intense. But boy is Sydney badass. That last line? Loved it! Of course it just makes me want the next book right away after that cliffhanger but that is what I love so much about Richelle Mead's endings. They always leave you either infuriated or gasping.

The Fiery Heart took things in this series to a completely new level and I can't wait to see what happens next. Richelle Mead crafted the story and it's characters perfectly. The Fiery Heart is getting 5 out of 5 birds from me. If you haven't started this series yet I recommend you do! You'll love Sydney just as much as you love Rose if not more.

  1. This is the only series that I seriously fangirl over. I read the books as fast as I can and then have to wait very impatiently for the next one to come out. Sydney has been my favorite character for some time now and Adrian just gets better and better in each book. The cliffhanger was obviously going to come at some point, but your right. It didn't make it any less shocking when it happened. And Sydney is definitely badass after that ending! But, oh poor Adrian. The next book is going to be emotional!!
