My Favorite Mistake

My Favorite Mistake I came across when the author was offering ARC's for review to any bloggers who wanted to read her book. I went to her site and read the summary and sample chapter and instantly knew I wanted to read it. Let me just tell you that this book is one of my new favorites. I just loved everything about My Favorite Mistake!

 Summary from Goodreads:

Taylor Caldwell can't decide if she wants to kiss her new college roommate or punch him.

On the one hand, Hunter Zaccadelli is a handsome, blue-eyed bundle of charm. On the other, he's a tattooed, guitar-playing bundle of bad boy. Maybe that's why Taylor's afraid of falling in love with him, or anyone else. She doesn't want to get burned, and even though her other roommates adore him, she wants him gone before it's too late.

Hunter himself has been been burned before, but the fact that Taylor calls him out on his crap and has the sexiest laugh ever make him decide maybe love isn't a lost cause. They make a bet: if she can convince him she truly loves or hates him, he'll leave the apartment--and leave her alone. The problem is, the more time they spend together, the less she hates him, and the more she moves toward love.

But when the man who holds the key to Taylor's fear of giving up her heart resurfaces and threatens to wreck everything, she has to decide: trust Hunter with her greatest secret, or do everything in her power to win that bet and drive him away forever.

My Favorite Mistake opens with one of the best openers imaginable. "The first day I met Hunter Zaccadelli, I punched him in the face." Best opener ever! It had me intrigued and wanting to find out more instantly and the more I read the more my feelings towards this book grew. By feelings I mean that with each word I loved the book even more. The deeper you get into My Favorite Mistake the deeper you fall for the story and its characters. Hunter Zaccadelli specifically. Good luck not falling for Hunter Zaccadelli ladies.

Taylor Cadwell is a very angry girl. She mets Hunter Zaccadelli and what does she do? She punches him the face and kicks him in the nuts. Of course from that moment on I was totally loving this character. Taylor doesn't need anyone taking care of her, she doesn't want anyone to take care of her. Taylor isn't the girl to fall for piercing blue eyes or a cocky smile like most girls would. She has a lot of walls built around her for reasons we don't know right away. I instantly liked Taylor and her narration. It was interesting being inside of her head. As your reading you know that something happened to Taylor to make her the way she is and I was so intrigued to learn just what it was that happened to make her so angry. Taylor definitely makes it high on my list of favorite characters.

"All I'm asking you to do is not be an ass for..."I looked at the clock, "Less than eight hours. You can do it. I believe in you."

Hunter Zaccadelli is my new book boy crush. Hunter is a cocky a-hole. But a very sweet, funny, tender, loving, bad-a** kind of a-hole. The more you read My Favorite Mistake the more you see all the really good sides to Hunter. Behind that cocky grin and wise cracks is a really amazing guy. Just like Taylor Hunter has a secret of his own. Hunter has been and still is all I've been thinking about since I finished reading this book. Chelsea created just an amazing character--and not just Hunter all of her character were amazing but Hunter in particular really was just that one that made you grin constantly. I really loved the whole luck thing about him. I don't want to discuss to much about it but I loved that about Hunter.

"Jesus, stop hitting me. Has anyone ever told you that you have an anger problem?"

Like I said above all the characters in this book were amazing. Each and every one of them was their own person and they all had different personality's. There wasn't one character who I didn't like. Well, I take that back. Their was one. But I'm not even going to mention who it was because it will ruin the book. But those who have read it know who it is. Tawny always made me laugh when she was around. Renee and Darah were both awesome. Megan was the perfect best friend. I could go on and on about all the characters but its best if you just met them all yourself. They all are fantastic and you kind of grow an attachment to them and their stories.

I've been reading strictly YA for the longest time. This was my first New Adult book and I'm so glad I decided to read this one. I loved it so much and I'm definitely reading more New Adult books after My Favorite Mistake. It was the perfect book to read to bring me into the New Adult genre. Which I really loved the college setting it was refreshing to be out of the high school setting. I also really loved that this book takes place in Maine. Someplace I really want to visit someday.

My Favorite Mistake is getting 5 out of 5 birds from me. I so badly want to give it more. I would give it ten birds if I could because it was that good. I fell in love with the story and plan to reread it the moment I have a spare moment. Chelsea C. Cameron is definitely an author's books to look out for! I'm reading more work from her for sure. I don't know what else to say other than get this book, fall in love with Hunter and proceed to reread all your favorite parts over and over.

~~ Big thank you to Chelsea C. Cameron for providing me with an ARC of this book!~~

Guest Post With Chelsea C. Cameron

Today I have the wonderful Chelsea C. Cameron on the blog. Her latest book My Favorite Mistake comes out tomorrow and today she is sharing her perfect cast for her characters as well as a song that fits them perfectly! Personally I love everything she picked! It's all perfect. Makes me want to stop everything and reread the book. :)

My Perfect Cast

When I write my books, I always have to picture them in my head like movies. More often than not, I just sit back and watch as the characters take me on a ride. One of the most important parts is being able to picture my main characters and what they look like, how they move, what they'd wear. I've gotten addicted to picking out clothes for them on Pinterest, and looking for actors on IMDb. And so, here is my perfect cast of My Favorite Mistake, along with what song I think fits them best...

Hunter

Crew cut, tattoos, sexy smirk. That's how I picture Hunter. I don't have one perfect guy, but if Adam Levine and Tim Tebow in this picture could somehow have a baby, that would be my Hunter. I've loved the song Bad Things by Jace Everett (it's the theme song to Trueblood), and I heard it the other day and all I could think of was Hunter.

Taylor

She's cute and small, with brown hair. I picture her as the all-American girl. I spent a lot of time searching for a good Taylor, and then I remembered Sarah Ramos from Parenthood. She's cute, and a little too pretty for Taylor, but she's as close as I can get. Taylor looks sweet on the outside, but she's not. She's one of the angriest characters I've ever written. She's also got a short fuse. I always think of Miranda Lambert when I think of Taylor. Kerosene would be her song.

Mase

Hunter's cousin. Also a bit of bad boy about him, but with a little bit less of an edge. He's shorter and stockier than Hunter, and I always picture him wearing a baseball cap and ragged-on-the-bottom jeans. He's chill and casual. Nothing ever really upsets him. I had a hard time finding a good Mase, but I think Ryan Lochte (the swimmer) is close. Mase wouldn't be in as good shape, and he wouldn't be as tall, but Ryan has the right face (and what a face it is!). Mase loves to dance, and whenever I hear an Usher song, I think of him.

Renee

One of Taylor and Hunter's roommates. She looks like a doll with wide blue eyes, but once she opens her mouth, you see that she's anything but. The actress who would definitely play her would be Amanda Seyfried. She looks EXACTLY how I picture Renee. Renee is a spitfire, but she's the kind of person you'd want having your back. She's fierce when it comes to her friends. She recently went though a break-up, so the perfect song for her would be So What by Pink.

Darah

Taylor and Hunter's other roommate. She's more quiet than Renee, and she's a bit of a control freak, and she's a really good listener. She's tall, and has black hair with bangs that almost fall into her eyes. Carly Rae Jepsen looks just like how I picture her. Darah is all about control and order, but she's a huge Queen fan (go figure). Somebody To Love fits her well.

I reviewed this book called Candid by Michelle Pennington a while back and it was a book that I read in one day and loved. And the reason I'm bringing this up is because there is an awesome deal going on for one of Michelle's books that I have to bring to your attention. It's called Sing To Me it's a novella and it's going to be free from today until tomorrow! It takes place before the events of Candid so even if you haven't read Candid you're safe to read it! :)

Summary from Goodreads:

Senior Prom is just a few weeks away, and Rylie’s long time crush asked her to go with him. Wow! Could things get more perfect? Oh, except her mom is making her earn the money for her dress, mostly by cleaning all the dead bugs out of their house, and a guy in choir is making her life miserable. Then her mom lands her a steady babysitting job and things start to look up. She’ll have her dress in no time and a two year old is better than bugs any day. Unfortunately, she’s in for a big surprise when she shows up for her first night on duty. One moonlit lullaby and Rylie realizes she’s in trouble. Toxic Blog Tour: Author Interview

Today I have the wonderful Jus Accordo author of Touch and Toxic which are the first two books in the Denzan series. I'm taking part in the Toxic blog tour and Jus was kind of enough to do an interview! Hope you enjoy! She describes the third book in the series in one word and it sure makes me curious what happens! Hope you enjoy the interview! And there maybe a giveaway at the end of this post...you'll just have to scroll down to find out! ;)

Novel Nerd: Can you remember the book that sealed the deal for your love of
reading?

Jus: That’s easy! Bunnicula by James Howe.  :D

Novel Nerd: When did you know that Touch was the story that needed to be written
then and there?

Jus: I got the idea early one morning while waiting in line for coffee. By dinnertime that night, it was all I could think about. Like, the idea kept poking me. I started bright and early the next morning!

Novel Nerd: Was the idea for Touch something that took a while to develop or did
the story and its characters come to you right away?

Jus: It really all started with an opening scene (not the one that ended up in the book) and went from there. There wasn’t any plotting or developing. It just kind of unfolded as I went.

Novel Nerd: Your book covers are all so fantastic! If you had to pick one of
them as a favorite which would you pick?

Jus: Oh, no way… I’m kind of crazy-in-love with all of them. To pick one over the other? GAH. No… Kale is, well, *wipes drool* Kale. And Dez is so seriously awesome… I cannot wait to get a peek at the cover of book 3!

Novel Nerd: The name Deznee is pretty unique. What made you pick that name for
your character?

Jus: I’d love to say there’s some awesome story behind it, but I think it was mostly just a random thought. I liked the nickname Dez and went from there J

Novel Nerd: Can you describe book three in the series in one word?

Jus: Mind-blowing. Hyphens count as one word! :P

Novel Nerd: Thanks for doing the interview Jus! :)

Jus: Thank you for having me! This was a blast :)

When a Six saved Kale’s life the night of Sumrun, she warned there would be consequences. A trade-off. Something taken for the life they gained. But Dez never imagined she’d lose the one thing she’d give anything to keep… And as if it’s not enough Dez finds her immunity to Kale fading, the Six brought in to help Kale learn to control his killer touch starts drooling on him the moment they meet. Worse than that? Jade can touch Kale. But bimbo Barbie is the least of Dez’s problems.
After Dez and Kale got away at Sumrun, her father lost not only his most powerful weapon but an important piece of the Supremacy project. Forced by Denazen to remedy the situation, he poisons Dez and offers her a choice—surrender to Denazen for the cure…or die. Determined to find a solution that doesn’t involve being bagged and tagged—or losing someone she loves—Dez keeps the poison a secret.  But when a rash of Denazen attacks hit a little too close to home, Dez is convinced there’s a traitor among them. Jade.
Sacrifices, broken promises, and secrets. Dez will have to lay it all on the line if there’s any hope of proving Jade’s guilt before they all end up Residents of Denazen. Or worse, dead…

Add Toxic to your TBR pile on Goodreads!

Jus Accardo spent her childhood reading and learning to cook. Determined to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps as a chef, she applied and was accepted to the Culinary Institute of America. At the last minute, she realized her path lay with fiction, not food, and passed on the spot to pursue writing. Jus is the author of YA paranormal romance and urban fantasy fiction. A native New Yorker, she lives in the middle of nowhere with her husband, three dogs, and sometimes guard bear, Oswald. Her first book, Touch was released in November 2011 from Entangled Publishing. She is currently working on the next book in the Denazen series. Give Jus a yell on Twitter, or visit her on Facebook, and her website.

Jus Accadro was kind enough to do a giveaway and it's an awesome giveaway if I do say so myself so without further ado here is what you can win! But first please be honest with your entries I do check them and the giveaway is only open to US/CA residents. Sorry international peeps!

Scary School

I wasn't sure what to expect when I agreed to review Scary School by Derek The Ghost. I don't read Middle Grade books often. I've only read one before reading Scary School but I wanted to branch out with what I was reading so I agreed to read this book. I can honestly say I'm glad I did because this book was really great in a very comical easy read kind of way. Sometimes you just need a book like Scary School whether you read Middle Grade or not.

Summary from Goodreads:

You think your school's scary?

Get a load of these teachers:

"Ms. Fang," an 850-year-old vampire
"Dr. Dragonbreath," who just might eat you before recess
"Mr. Snakeskin"--science class is so much more fun when it's taught by someone who's half zombie
"Mrs. T"--break the rules and spend your detention with a hungry "Tyrannosaurus rex"

Plus

Gargoyles, goblins, and Frankenstein's monster on the loose
The world's most frighteningly delicious school lunch

And

The narrator's an eleven-year-old ghost

Join Charles "New Kid" Nukid as he makes some very Scary friends--including Petunia, Johnny, and Peter the Wolf--and figures out that Scary School can be just as funny as it is spook

This book is told from the point of view of Derek The Ghost. He's writing down in this book everything he see's around him. It takes place at a school known as Scary School where humans and scary kids go to school together. You have zombies, werewolf's, a girl who is completely purple etc.  They soon learn that they will all be taking part in the Ghoul Games and they all have to get ready....or deal with what happens when they lose.

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. Once I started reading I couldn't stop. There was so much about this book that kept me drawn in. For one the dark humor. This book had me chuckling throughout. I have so many favorite quotes.

"Okay," said Frank N. Stein, "that's just plain rude. Go ahead and kill it. I'll make one with better manners."

And not only was it the humor great but also the writing style. It really was good and I kept reading because I wanted to know how this book could possibly end. Some of the stuff in the book was silly which was to be expected but it wasn't the kind of silly that made you roll your eyes. It was the good kind of silly. The kind of silly you just need sometimes. Nothing in this book did I expect. Once you start Scary School you just go along for the ride until you've read the last page.

Though this is a Middle Grade book it is really dark and horror like but in a kid friendly sort of way. Kids are often eaten by their teachers. But even though it is dark it's definitely written in a kid friendly way and very humorous. The illustrations that were on the pages made the experience even better while reading. They too often had me chuckling.

There were a lot of characters in this book and I enjoyed reading about them all. Every single one of the characters were likeable in there own way. Lindsay was really amusing and I liked how Derek made her more likable at the end of her chapter. I liked that about this book each character was introduced in his or hers own chapter. Someone may be mentioned in a chapter that was talking about someone else and Derek would always write something like "More about that later." The only thing about this book is I wish we would have learned more about Derek since he was the one narrating the story. Other than that one thing I think all the characters were really well written and developed.

I really enjoyed this book and am glad that I read it. I'm definitely more open to reading Middle Grade after this because of how much I enjoyed Scary School. Some people may not be into because they think it's just for kids but really anyone could read this book and finish it will a smile. Scary School is getting 4 out of 5 birds from me. Everyone needs to give this book a chance. It's a quick and funny read.

Song Of The Week

This week I'm yet again listening to an Alternative song. I stumbled upon this artist on I-Tunes and am so glad I did. I absolutely love their music! Anytime I hear the song I just want to sing along and bounce to the beat.

I will definitely be adding these sisters music to my I-Pod once I get my hands on an I-Tunes card. Such good music! What do you guys think of the song? The music video is a bit strange but I love the song!

Do you have a song you can't stop listening to? Let me know in the comments!

Smart Chicks Kick It

Yesterday I got to meet some really fabulous authors. Some of which I have been dying to meet ever since I fell in love with the stories they created. I've been so excited for this event ever since I found out they were coming near my area. And it was a total blast. The Smart Chicks Kick It are HILARIOUS. I'm so glad I got to meet these wonderful authors. And whats even better is meeting them seeing how nice and funny they. Rachel Caine and Kelley Armstrong are two of my idols. And both of them were so awesome! I didn't really get to talk to Kelley Armstrong but I did get to talk to Rachel Caine who signed every single one of my books. I felt so bad--her hand must have been killing her! She was the best, I think I'm an even bigger fan of her. She's so nice!

Okay, I'm going to stop gushing and share some pictures from the event.

Kami Garcia, Kelley Armstrong, and Melissa Marr! I didn't get to talk to these three really but the whole time they were talking on the mic every single one of them was funny and so nice. It was like a big deal to get to meet Kelley. I'm a huge fan of her YA series. She created Derek & Chloe who are one of my favorite YA characters! :)

Rachel Caine and Melissa de Le Cruz! We're all kind of blinking in this picture but its the only one I have of us three. And blinking or not that is Rachel Caine and Melissa de Le Cruz! They both are fabulous. And Melissa's necklace? I don't think anyone could pull that off. But she totally did! It was such a pretty necklace! You can't really tell the color of Rachel's glasses in this picture but they were so cute! I loved them! Which I was so nervous I forgot to tell her that. :D

Might I just say though that this was an improvement from my last author signing. I meet Richelle Mead and didn't utter a word. I was so nervous and in awe my brain just blanked and I was like what can I say and not sound like a dummy? But I actually talked at this one. So yeah! I probably rambled a lot and sounded like a dummy but now I can actually say I talked to Rachel Caine and Melissa de Le Cruz.

And this is the picture of us not blinking with my littler sister. She loved the event. I hope that means she's a bookworm in the making haha! You can see Rachel's glasses better in this picture and Melissa's necklace.

Sarah Rees Brennan was so so funny! And so so nice! I haven't read Unspoken yet, but already I'm a fan of her! She was just so awesome! And obviously you can tell because I'm grinning like an idiot in this picture. All I have to say is if she is ever doing a signing near you go. You will have a blast.

Sky had to have a picture with Sarah. It turned out really cute! And thanks to Rosemary Clementine Moore for emailing it to me. Of course my camera decided to die on me but she was kind enough to take a picture with her phone and send it to me. She is the only one I didn't get a picture with! Which I'm a bit bummed about but hopefully she will be back here sometime for another signing. She was so nice as well. Pretty much they all were nice and funny. The signing was such a blast.

Sky getting the book she won signed last night! She had no idea how cool this all was. She will in ten years. :D

We were under tornado watch and had really bad weather when this signing took place so not a lot of people showed up. I was expecting the place to be PACKED. But it wasn't to crowed. There were plenty of people but not so many that the authors could only sign three books at a time....which was awesome since I got all these signed.

Unspoken with it's jacket still on is not my book. I got it signed for a blogger friend who sent it to me to get signed for her. I'm sure she is going to be thrilled when it gets to her. :)

Some pretty exciting things happened. They were doing a round of which author did this or something like that and me, my mom and littler sister answered right three times. My littler sister just randomly pointed at an author and ended up being right! It was so funny! She also put her hand up to ask questions and when she got called on she just said "Pink!" in to the mic. They proceeded to say how they felt about the color. LOL! So these are the books I won.

An ARC of Bitter Blood. Guys I can't even begin to say how excited I was when I got that book. Big thanks to my mom! Beautiful Chaos I won and its the UK cover which is cool! And then my littler sister won Brimstone and we got it signed to both of us. And she wanted all the authors to sign her book so they all signed it. I of course will be reading it before her. She has to wait ten years LOL!

That pretty much covers it! Here are some pictures of all the authors that I was able to get before my camera failed me.

So many laughs at this event! I know my face hurt from smiling so much and laughing. Yep, so if any of these authors are ever in your area go see them because they are all wonderful and have written fantastic books!

The Last Echo

I'll admit to being a little hesitant to start this book right away after reading Desires of The Dead. Desires of The Dead was a great read but because I felt it was missing something it caused me to think and think about what that was and I didn't want my brain to still be trying to figure that out when I started The Last Echo. I am so glad that I was able to just push it aside and start this book because holy moly was this book fantastic and creepy.

Summary from Goodreads:

In the end, all that’s left is an echo.

Violet kept her morbid ability to sense dead bodies a secret from everyone except her family and her childhood-best-friend-turned-boyfriend, Jay Heaton. That is until forensic psychologist Sara Priest discovered Violet’s talent and invited her to use her gift to track down murderers. Now, as she works with an eclectic group of individuals—including mysterious and dangerously attractive Rafe—it’s Violet’s job to help those who have been murdered by bringing their killers to justice.

When Violet discovers the body of a college girl killed by “the girlfriend collector” she is determined to solve the case. But now the serial killer is on the lookout for a new “relationship” and Violet may have caught his eye.

From serial killers, to a stumbled upon murder, and now the girlfriend collector Violet Ambrose sure as heck doesn't have it easy. Her life went from not normal to down right dangerous.

The Last Echo was so breathtaking. Like literally it took my breath away. The Last Echo had everything that it ever could have needed. It was paced perfectly, the story was developing into something that I personally loved, the characters were changing, the creep vibe was amplified to the max...this book just had it all.

Violet Ambrose is on my list of favorite characters. She's strong and so brave. This book really puts Violet and her strength to the test. Pretty much every book does but this one did so in a different way. Sometimes the prince isn't there to help you out of a sticky situation and you need to have the smarts and strength to get out alive. She proves in this one she has both. Violet definitely made me love her even more as a character in The Last Echo. She's no longer clueless. She's figuring things out about who she is and what she can do. She has the support of all these people and even though she has them she doesn't rely on them to save her butt.

Kimberly Derting is one in the very few authors who managed to make me switch teams. I've been all about Jay from the start but after reading this book I can honestly say that I felt myself shift towards another character. But don't get me wrong I still love Jay, he's all kinds of awesome. There isn't much Jay in this book might I just say but there is a lot of Rafe. I for one enjoyed all the new things that I learned about Rafe. Rafe is the mysterious and sexy, keeps to himself kind of guy. Yet you see these moments of a funny and really sweet guy. I knew that I liked Rafe when I read Desires of The Dead but I never expected to love him to the point that I may have switched teams. I know, I know! I'm such a trader! :P

The Last Echo is the creepiest book in this series hands down. The girlfriend collector is the most twisted guy ever. The chapters where we get to see inside his head made my stomach roll with revulsion. I will never be able to wear purple nail polish again. Not without thinking about this book. This is definitely not a book to read at night which is when I always was reading it. Lets just say I didn't fall asleep right away after reading.

When I started this series I had no idea that it would go the route that it did. I never expected any of it but I love where Kimberly Derting has taken this series and its characters. I'm so afraid of spoiling something so I'm not going to say to much about what happened in this book other than to say that Kimberly Derting is brilliant. Who would have thought that The Body Finder would have turned into this story? What I mean by that is the things that developed with Sara Priest and the way this book ended. Never. Saw. That. Coming. But I loved it and I'm so, so excited to read the next installment.

Kimberly Derting succeeds big time. She has written a suspenseful, creepy, heart-stopping story that I am so engrossed in. Fans of her previous books will close this one and will go "You did not just end it like that Kimberly. Nu-uh." and then proceed with "When does the next one come out? Tomorrow I hope." The Last Echo gets 5 out of 5 birds from me. Anyone who enjoys reading will start this series and instantly fall in love with the characters. It's a series that doesn't get lost in the shuffle of all those other series you've read. It sits tall and gets it's self noticed and it stays noticed for a very long time.

Song Of The Week

I was listening to the radio last weekend at where I work as I was cleaning the barn and this song randomly came onto the radio. I liked it enough to look into who was singing it. Turns out it was someone who I didn't really listen to but I really love this song and now I'm totally into his music.

Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye ft. Kimbra:

I tend to like a lot of Alternative music and I LOVE this song. Especially the chorus. I've had this song on reply for days and I wish I would have saved some of my I-tunes money-HA I blow through it so fast. I can't help it!-so I could buy the song and have it on my I-pod. Anyways, in a less babbling way of talking about this song and in a much shorter version.....Its made of awesome.

What song can't you stop listening to? Let me know in the comments! :)

Cover Reveal

A gorgeous and I mean GORGEOUS cover was revealed today for the very last book in a series that is beyond epic. I'm really sad to know that this is the last book, but at the same time I just can't wait to read it. And now with the cover revealed today it feels like its one step closer to getting released!

This might just be the most eye catching cover in the series. It's just stunning!! What do you guys think? Are you as sad as me this is the last book? Have you started this series yet? No? Get on it! You will love the world Rachel Vincent has created. :)
